[Solved] Read Only mode
Hello I accept a Open up Part Give-and-take Document. I created the document myself and somehow tonight information technology is ready to Read Only. I also have a password on the file. This file has every password I apply all over the internet then I cannot share information technology with the community for support. I attempted to undo Read-Only the simple way by right clicking the file and going to Backdrop . In properties it is Non listed equally Read-Only
Afterward I log into the file information technology says Read-Only at the bottom. Please help
Heres some basic info:
Windows 7 64bit
Open up Office 4.1.1 Version
I created the document information technology was never from an employer or individual who might want to make certain certain parts are not to be modified.

Re: Read But way
When I double click Edit every bit stated from to a higher place it allows me to save the certificate and take off Read - Just. However whatever fourth dimension I try to open t he file and log into information technology with the password over again information technology reapplies "read-only"
Also I used Ctr+A, Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V to re-create paste the unabridged certificate on a blank make new *doc file and applies the same Read-Only attributes past defeault there as well. Please help

Re: Read Simply mode
The quick reply is to /File /Save As nether some other name. There is possibly a left over lock file, either in the directory of the original file, or in your OpenOffice User profile. To see this you will have to enable "View hidden files". How you do this depends on your operating system. You can and then delete whatsoever such lock files when OpenOffice is closed. Note that you should not confuse the lock files with their owning file - the lock files are much smaller.

Re: Read But mode
Piece of work in .odt format rather than .medico format. I have seen and then many posts about trouble with passworded documents I personally would not use passwords - I'd keep any sensitive documents on a USB difficult drive which I would keep safe.

This didn't help. I went to save as and renamed it no avail. This is kinda frustrating.

I tried your pick. I saved information technology to .odt and its still "read only" As well I cannnot run into the Edit button now. Can I but wave a Magic Wand and restore all defaults on Open Office?

Re: Read Merely style
Open your read-just file. Make a new OpenOffice file and open information technology. Ctrl A to select everything in information technology. With menu item Window change to your new blank file. Ctrl V to paste the contents of the original file. Now Save that file. Do not use a countersign. Does information technology open up for editing?

Re: Read Only mode
Thank you . Problem solved. The two problems I noticed were when I saved to *.doc file for Windows XP/2000 and passworded them. When I Go along them unpassworded i have no issue.

Re: Read Simply mode
There are so many problems reported with passwords on OpenOffice - whether these are OO problems or user issues I cannot say - in improver to the countersign being effectively uncrackable if forgotten, that I would never recommend anyone to countersign a file. Much easier to keep any sensitive file on a private USB device which you keep in your briefcase. (And notice the USB removal protocols!)
